Subject:        Workshop Proposals for 2015 NAMI National Convention
Embracing the Future
July 6-9, 2015
Hilton San Francisco Union Square Hotel

Date:              November 3, 2014

Dear Staff,

The workshop proposal site for the 2015 NAMI National Convention is now open!

We have updated the workshop application to include reference to the strategic plan and ask all workshop applicants to consider how your proposed session helps advance NAMI’s vision and goals. (For your review, I have attached a copy of the NAMI Strategic Framework.)

As a reminder, proposals will only be accepted between November 3 and December 3.

To further highlight the focus on the strategic plan, we are excited to announce that “Embracing the Future” is the theme for the 2015 convention.

The theme encompasses the direction the board has specified in the strategic plan:
·        “Future” referring to advancing the goals in the strategic plan to focus on youth, leverage new technologies, strengthen the organization, build a movement and drive advocacy.
·        And “embracing”  to communicate the entire organization’s commitment to the plan.

If you wish to submit a workshop proposal please review the following important details:

1.      It is important to include the perspective of a person living with a mental illness and/or a family member in the presentation.
2.      Please do not attempt to submit multiple proposals.  Only one proposal per submitter will be considered by the committee.
(If more than one individual from an organization is interested in submitting a workshops, then each individual must submit their own proposal.)
  1. The person submitting this workshop proposal is considered the primary presenter of this session.
  2. The primary presenter will receive all information regarding this session  (workshop acceptance, scheduling, a/v requirements, etc.)
  3. You may have up to a maximum of 3 presenters plus one moderator.
6.      Please review the attached document on NAMI’s Strategic Framework in advance of preparing your workshop application.  This will enable you to explain how your proposed presentation may help to advance those strategic goals.

Please note the following important dates:
·        Workshop Proposal site opens:          November 3, 2014
·        Workshops Proposals due:                 December 3, 2014
·        Workshop Applicants notified if workshop is accepted:   February 10, 2015
