Dear NAMI Family Support Group Facilitators:

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first FSG webinar using our new software, Adobe Connect! On the webinar, we shared announcements from NAMI and brainstormed a few common challenges for facilitators in breakout groups.

For those who were unable to join us, you can watch the recording and download the resources we reviewed by clicking (or copy/pasting into your browser) the link below:

NOTE: The breakout groups were not recorded, so the recording includes mostly national announcements and resources.

Thank you and I look forward to connecting with you again soon!

Information on NAMI 360 - Teachers and Facilitators accessing the Intranets (Extranets)

NAMI 360 – Finding and Entering Education Leaders in the System.

All NAMI education coordinators now need to have education access to NAMI 360.  This enables you to   add classes online, and also
·       add all your teachers so they can access the intranet (now called extranet) and also be able to download information from the www.nami.org/eduhelpdesk  website.
·       Even if your teachers/facilitators had access to the intranet, under NAMI’s new system, they no longer have this access unless they’ve been added to the 360 network.

Education Coordinators – Registration for Education Access Steps:

1.     First and last name:
2.     Address:
3.     Phone number:
4.     Email address:
5.     NAMI State: (California)
6.     NAMI affiliate you are a member of:
7.     nami.org username:

This information is then sent to NAMI National authorizing you for education access.    Please send this data as soon as possible.  Since NAMI California has hundreds of F2F teachers (also known as education leaders when entering data on 360) each affiliate NAMI education coordinator needs to enter their own affiliate’s teachers and support group facilitators, etc.

Entering Teachers/Facilitators into NAMI 360/Modifying Their Profile

1.     Log into NAMI.org
2.     At the base of  your Home  Page which is called myNAMI,  click on link that says NAMI State Organization and NAMI Affiliate Management  It is in the section under MY LEADER DASHBOARD(You get to your home page by logging in at the top of the general home page.)
3.     To open this link you must be entered into NAMI 360 - see above directions.
Clicking on this link will bring you to the start page

If you are not sure whether the volunteer is in the system then:
4.     Click on search-query link - on left.
5.     Enter in the person’s name, city and state.
6.     Click the search box to the far right of the page
7.     Scroll down the following page – if they are in the system their information will appear.
8.     Click on their ID # - in blue, on the left.
9.     This brings you to the person’s profile page.  Scroll down to the bottom field.  It is entitled NAMI Education Leaders.   To the right click on the link that says Add Education Leader
10.  Follow instructions for entering your teacher or support group facilitator.  If your person serves in more than one capacity, you will need to enter him/her for each role.  i.e. if he/she is a Family to Family and Basics teacher, you will need to repeat that step twice.

If the teacher/facilitator is already in the system:
You can do one of two things:
You can enter their name and city (and or zip) into the search section and it will pull up their information at the bottom or

1.     At the 360 start page – click on link on the right hand side of the page that says Education Leader.   On the next page you will see volunteer names by category.
2.     At the top of that page click on Add Education Leader
3.     Follow instructions for entering your teacher or support group facilitator.  If your person serves in more than one capacity, you will need to enter him/her for each role.  i.e. if he/she is a Family to Family and Basics teacher, you will need to repeat that step twice.

Resources:
See www.nami.org/eduhelpdesk  and listen to a recorded call dated July 2014.

Refer also to the NAMI 360 Program Listing Tool available on the http://nami.org/eduhelpdesk

There is also a 360 Help Icon on every page.

If you/your affiliate are in a situation that will make it difficult for you to do this, please let me know.   Thanks again!

NAMI Family and Peer Programs

Going forward this blog will permanently be used for both Family and Peer Programs news.

Important Announcements - NAMI California 1-16-2015

Hello all.  Several items to announce this time.
·        Directing Change needs judges for their event.  Deadline is Feb. 1st.  For information about Directing Change please see the NAMI CA website www.namica.org  or contact Lauren@namca.org
·        Grants are now available for Peer and Family Programs.  The deadline is February 2.  This time the Family programs MOU grants are primarily for affiliates interested in holding a regional training, that is where you would invite local affiliates to participate.  The Peer grants can be a single affiliate or preferably a regional one, as there seems to be a great need for Connection trainings.  One stipulation is that a full or at least partial roster of candidates needs to be provided with the application.  Please see attached.  Applications will begin to be reviewed after Feb. 2nd.
·        Peer to Peer in Fairfield is not yet full, so please continue sending applications for that training.  The new deadline is January 30th
·        The newly announced Family to Family training in Chico is also still accepting applications.  The support group training in Chico is full, but please let me know if you have interested people as I may be able to introduce another training in June depending on where the need is.  The Family to Family and Family Support Group trainings in San Diego still has room for participants.
·        Please remember the Persona a Persona training which is scheduled for March 27th in Ontario.  Do you have any Spanish -speaking candidates who would like to become Mentors?  We look forward to their applications!
·        A full time position for a Family and Peer coordinator is available here at NAMI California.  Please see attached job description.  The application process is being handled by HR.  Please defer all questions to them.  Thank you.
·        Lastly, I wish to announce my promotion to a newly-created Family and Peer Programs Supervisor position.  As some of you know I have been handling both departments since Stephenie left last fall.  I (impatiently) await an assistant to help me as we roll out these trainings.
·        Please check the http://namifamilyprograms.blogspot.com for information on all these announcements.  Whenever I send out a blast, I post it on that website.  Another great source of training information is the Weekly Report.  Sign up for that and the monthly newsletter by simply emailing newsletter@namica.org
·        Please also remember that you can utilize the Affiliate Login website on www.NAMICA.org  if you have the password.  Affiliate leaders have been provided their affiliate’s password and with it you can download applications for the different programs and access other resources as well.  Thanks!

There is additional information in the next email regarding NAMI National and their data system – NAMI 360.

Have a nice weekend. And thank you for your faithful volunteerism!!
